"Healing"

(Permission to remove this section of text): This is something I’ve been working on for awhile. It didn’t take that long I just abandoned it for a little while. There’s a ton of things I hate about this piece looking at it from an artist’s perspective (like all my drawings), but because of the message it sends I absolutely love it. We’ve all been through terrible times, but we can all heal. I was inspired to make this because of a few friends, and just because of stories I’ve heard about self harm, mental illness, abuse, etc. My own experiences have inspired me to make this as well.
Unfortunately I didn’t get the desired effect I wanted on the hand. It’s been left gray because it represents the lifelessness we feel while going through hard times. The butterfly symbolizes healing, hope, and happiness, and is therefore vibrantly colored. I don’t think I got that effect down, especially because I have to explain it, so for that I’m sorry. This is definitely a piece I’d like to redo someday when my skills have (hopefully) improved.
